Thank you, Jesus for coming through for us by whipping the VA into shape! We are going to have two paid off vehicles soon!!! We have been married for 11 years and never had even one vehicle paid in full! What a blessing!!!!
On to Homeschooling. I took last week off because we were busy and because I needed to regroup. It was a relaxing week and it helped me regain focus. This week is going well. So what changed?
I stopped planning. I know my other post was about planning and how great it is but I think I got carried away. I find I am way more relaxed when we just go chapter by chapter in their books and listen to their questions. When they ask questions, we look up answers. I am still setting a structure in place but they are guiding us where we go. Lauren gets taught in short 30 minute sections. I have been using Brainquest with her more and I let her pick the pages since I plan on doing the whole thing with her anyway. Only one meltdown this week (Yes, I know the week is early) but huge improvement. Today we put Pinto Beans in groups and learned simple multiplication. She loved it and Daniel looked impressed as he walked by.
Ashley took her first test today and she aced it! We are in chapter 3 of her Science book and I tested her on the first 2. No problems!
The less I treat Homeschooling like school, the more they seem to learn. I think I am on to something...

ReplyDeleteI love your statement "The less I treat Homeschooling like school, the more they seem to learn." That's so true! I homeschooled my two children through high school, and it worked best when we approached it in a relaxed way and had fun learning.
